Well, I woke up yesterday morning to my 30 Gallon Long Tank leaking. I managed to get everything into a tote and everything is alive and well. My tank was 48x12x12, and I really enjoyed that size and look. However, I'm having a really hard time finding something similar online.

Where does everyone buy their tanks, online or in person?
What tank would you look at that would fit on that stand?
What tank would you look at that wouldn't fit on that stand?

I can't go with anything huge since I'm in a townhouse that we are renting. I like the stand I have but obviously it will be easier to get a tank and new stand then find something to fit that stand that isn't a 55gallon (it seems that 55's are hard to scape and get good flow).

Any rimless tank I've seen are insanely expensive, but maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places.

I have an older 55, and yes they are harder to scape. I also have a nuvo 40 fusion. I do like the depth more with this tank. What do you plan on keeping in it?

I would say the sizes that interest you are on the more expensive side. Only because you can’t go to a petco and buy a tank for 100 bucks that you’re looking for. I would say look into Bulk reef supply at the rimless mr aquas and or the nuvo or lagoon style stated above. Awesome tank dimensions at a reasonable price.

Than of course I would say look in the frag style tanks from waterbox if you decide you want to spend some money. What’s nice is it’s a whole system tank/stand/sump/plumbing. I think marine depot and bulk reef supply carry them and best of all these places typically do free shipping.

Best of luck! Sorry to hear about your original tank.

Mixed reef, I have 2 clowns, 1 goby, and 1 firefish. I currently have softies, lps, and sps. I have 2 AI Primes and 1 Hydra 26. I also have 2 koralia nanos and an IceCap 1k gyre on the way, but depending on the new tank, I may be switching up the equipment I have.

Thanks! Yeah, of course I pick the expensive hobby and then the expensive tanks lol. Thanks for the info, I'll look into that.

We all say that about this hobby! But something about the hobby also keeps all of us still in it. The reward of coming home from work and seeing the tank is all worth it!

You could just reseal the tank if you don't want to switch sizes. It's a bit of a pain but worth it some times. LFS will be the cheapest since you aren't paying for shipping, but you are limited to what they have. Another option is going to acrylic and have one made to sizes you want, if lucky you can find someone some what local that you can pick up and save on shipping.

Don't forget about the 40 long if you choose to keep you stand. Also, remember that anenome get big quick and other creatures may like the deeper tank to get around it and staying away from the territorial clownfish once they hosted.

Id look into a custom tank builder where your located or at least close to your location.

But nowadays id just hit the easy button and go with a Reefer 250/350 if I was to do it all over again.

Thanks guys. Yeah this was an acrylic tank. I'm still looking into fixing it but from what I've read/researched/called around here, fixing it won't save me much more than just getting something new (and my wife being confident in the tank is worth more than that anyway). Haven't completely ruled that out, just leaning more the other way.

I would go with a 40 breeder and build a stand for it. The dimension is perfect and the total cost should be less than 200 bucks. If you don’t have the tools to build a stand you can just buy a table for it. 40 gallons of water is not that heavy.
