Hey r2f , I have a Red Sea Max Nano 20g .

deciding to go SPS dominant .. I know I need more flow because I only have 425GPH Powerhead and I’m getting a lot of dead spots on the sand bed ... so time for upgrade ... if you can share. Your experience with any of these and why you would suggest it thank you

Here is what I use in my 20 gal nano coral quarantine. That Nero 5 will be way overkill even at low % in a 20 gal IMO. MP10 is always great

Thank you for your response , thank you for telling me the nero5 would be to much as well cause I also don’t want blow sand everywhere . Where do you set the one you have ? How is that working for you ? I’m open to any other brands as well .. I just seen these cause there more popular

OMG
Definitely for sure the vortech
I like vortech the best (overall) for the expensive powerhead
and HYDOR EVO as the BEST cheapest powerhead
I have 2 MP40s on my 240G

I have experience with all three, and if I HAD to pick one, the nero5 would get my vote. It's small and moves ALOT of water. And is also blue tooth controlled right out of the box.
I also cant complete my comment without mentioning the Hydors. While they dont have alot of control options, they're great pumps at an awesome price point that can move alot of water as well :)

I like the style of the nero5 and honestly for the price it’s in my range ... would this completely remove dead spots in a 20 gallon ?

Oh ya, at a max of 3k gallons per hour, and the ability to be swiveled compared to the MP10 that can only flow in one direction, should do well for you :)

I have a AI Nero and love it. It’s in a 38g Fiji Cube peninsula. I have had hydors in the past and like them as well for the price but they take up some real estate and don’t have a lot of control ability. If you do get a Nero get a guard. I got mine from Fish of Hex. Meleev’s Reef also sells them. I’m sure a few others do as well.

that Nero 5 will overkill that tank, been there and done that. I would do the MP10 since it seems it’s in your budget. I love the Nero’s but not for a 20 gal

Do you think one mp10 is good enough to grow sps in a 20 gal ? And minimize the dead spots in tank

even on a low setting ? For the nero5

even on a low setting ? For the nero5

I have a Nero 5 and even on low that thing blows sand in my 20 gallon IM AIO. I think an MP10 is more than enough for a 20 gallon. I use one in my 35 gallon mixing tank. You can try the Nero, please come back and let me know.
I use the 2 tunze 6040 on pulse a notch over low in the IM20 now and grows SPS frags fine.

You could also take a look at the Reef Octopus pulse 2. I just got a couple and I like them a lot

+1. The 360 degree adjustability is a nice as well as the various speed settings.

I have a Waterbox 40.1 which is basically a 17.71" cube similar to a RS Nano. I run two MP10s on the back wall at 40% random modes and this does well for this tank.

I use aqamai. If I had the funds I’d do Ecotech all the way. Wouldn’t even be a thought.

However I’d reallllllly look into the Sicce xstream advance. I got to play with one today. I’d pick that over Nero and aqamai.

I like that it has a long butt warranty, both standalone controller and wifi controller out of the box.

The Nero kills fish the holes are too big on it. Mp10 is ok but expensive, maybe tunze?
