Hands down The Gyre is simply the best in my opinion. I started with others and have repurposed them as pumps for a calcium, carbon and GFO reactor. I also now use one in my refugium, but I love the Gyre. I have a 75usg and went with the 150.

Try the Jebao RW8 or RW15 wavemakers. Very neat functions buildt into the controllers. Decent quiet and doesn't break the bank

How did you make reactors out of the old power heads?

I just used the power heads as the pumps to run water from my sump into the reactors. The power head came with different types of output connections and propellers. I connected a 1/2 inch clear hose and quick connect on the power head out.
