Help me pick my clean up!

Hey guys, Battling a algea problem! ive been doing physical removal for a couple days now, Along with lights out and it seems to have cleared alot of my problem up. And now i want to further eradicate it and prevent it with a more "natural" way.

10G tank current live stock
2-ocellaris clown
1-Banded coral Shrimp
1-Decorator crab


My CBS used to be very aggressive twords the fish so i was afraid of adding anything.
but he has calmed down. (i did have a emerald crab for about 2 weeks) and he suddenly died on me, Not sure what caused it. Just looking for tips on things to get that would be compatible in my tank.

yeah banded corals can eat fish when theyre sleeping... they are a pain haha but i love the decorator crab

They actually sleep on the rock right next to the CBS and he dosent bother them anymore. He used to go after them when they went near his "cave" but I think he gave up, he sometimes picks on the spider crab. But that little guy holds his ground. My tank is 90% violence free until someone bumps into someone else

haha yeah my dad has a royal gramma that lives in a cave and it will go after fish twice its size when they go near his lil cave

I am guessing you have green hair algae because you are removing it by hand. Week 48 of BRS tv video will teach you how to figure out how to solve your problem. pH can tell you a lot. The lower the pH. The more carbon dioxide in your tank which helps algae grow. A stable pH of 8.3 seems to be really good for preventing growth.

I had a huge cyano attack a couple weeks ago, solved it with chemiclean and was rewarded with a mixture of what I believe to be brown/green hair algae and also diatoms

Yeah i tend to stay away from chemicals that supposed to solve algae, i would check water parameters like your nitrates and phosphates--get the as close to zero as possible. Siphon or take hair algae outside of tank in bucket (toothbrush). Reduce your daylight hrs, if you are at 8-10, go to down to 6 or even for 4 for the time being. If u go clean up crew, i love trochus snails, they can defend themselves from crazy hermits w a twisting top move and right themselves up usually. Hermits crabs are hit or miss, some are good at cleaning but some like the zebra are serial murderers--last thing u want is shell on shell violence lol.

Do you have a low flow?
I thought you were looking for the natural way?
If you want something to destroy a tank's hair algae. In a week or two the natural way. Sea hare is a beast! I had one bad bloom when I went on a week vacation leaving the tank to be cared for.. Fed it heavy 3 x a day, but not target feeding my mandarin. Just blasting it into the flow. Lights left on for 14 hours. What a mess. Spent $30 on the small sea hare. Returned it 6 days later for $10 refund.

Well, I hate using chemicals but everywhere I looked turned to chemiclean for cyano and it got rid of it pretty much overnight... But I'd rather not do even more chems on top of it.... I have a marineland 50g powerhead I use so flow I would think is more then enough
