It’s about time to add another fish into my mixed reef tank. I have a 60 gallon 4ft long display and the system is about 78 total gallons and about 6 months old. I pretty much already have my fish want list figured out, however i need some help picking out my next one or 2. Currently i have 2 mocha clown and a Midas Blenny. My list is as follows:
1. 2 bonded mocha clowns
2. Midas Blenny
3. ?????
4. ????? (Maybe)
5. Mandarin
6. Kole eye tang

Basically i knew what i wanted to start with and i know what i want to end with, i just need suggestions for the middle. One fish for sure, maybe 2 depending on size. I am not in any rush as i want to add my livestock slowly to let the bipolar catch up.
As far as inverts i have a cleaner shrimp and a Pom Pomo crab - obviously i would like to keep those guys. Lol.

Suggestions with pictures would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

I'm a big fan of symbiosis! I highly recommend a goby/pistol combo and a nem for the clowns. (The only caution I advise is to get a goby that doesn't look similar to the blenny. My starry blenny destroyed a beautiful watchman goby I introduced, but leaves my yasha alone.)

I love my six-line wrasse! It has so much personality. Make sure you have a cover!

I think the six line should be next... I’m just worried about aggression. I have read lots of negative things. Lots of people say it should be added last. Is that not the case?

I forgot to mention that i have a rainbow bubble tip nem for my clowns! I thought about the pistol shrimp and goby pair - but i don’t know if i can handle all of the digging and tunneling. I’m pretty OCD about my sand bed looking nice. Lol

Melanurus/tail-spot, 4 spot/yellow&purple, or McKosker's wrasse.
I love my 4 spot(Banana!)
I would say stay away from 6 line wrasse. My buddy had one and popped a bottle of champagne when it jumped out. He has 120g and he had 3 fish in there, because of the 6 line.

I strongly recommend against a sixline, they become quite territorial.

Most of the flasher wrasses would work. Smaller fairy wrasse species are also nice. Royal gramma, swales basslet, longnose or flame hawkfish are some other suggestions.

Lubbock's fairy wrasse is one of the smaller fairies, and with its violet/peach/yellow color scheme, with flashes of blood red, offers colors different from your other existing and planned fish.

I agree with this and highly advise against sixline. I have seen them bully aggressive tangs four times their size to death. They start off ok sometimes but it’s a matter of time until they become sinister demons.

+2

I have a McKosker’s Flasher Wrasse and an Exquisite Fairy Wrass, and love them both. I got the Exquisite as a sub male, and he appears to be changing to terminal phase right now, which is really neat to see. They both have big personalities, and I would highly recommend them. :)

You could also do any of the dwarf angles. Flame, Coral Beauty, Bicolor. However, you must choose one from the list; dwarf angels don’t typically play well with others unless you add them at the same time, and even then, it’s not a guarantee. Watch him closely to check if he’s nipping at corals; most don’t IME, but some do.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I think the 6 line is out.. there is way to much stuff vs good stuff about them. I do love the flasher wrasse. Do they need sand to sleep in?
I’m really leaning towards the flasher and a royal gramma.
Does this fish list and the order of them look okay?
1. 2 mocha clowns
2. Midas Blenny
3. Flasher wrasse/fairy wrasse
4. Royal Gramma
5. Mandarin
6. Kole eye tang

Should one fish be added before another? Will 7 fish be too much of a bioload for my system?

The flasher wrasses tend to stay a bit smaller than some of the fairy wrasses... but that’s depending on which fairy wrasse. I don’t know of any pros/cons between the two, really.

Your list has a pretty light bio load... only the Tang will produce much. Your list looks solid!

Same thing happened to me, they killed each other!
