I just bought a piece of live rock and was told by a good friend to take it out of the tank. Can you help let me know what's on it and is it safe?

Looks like it has bryopsis. And you don't want that in your tank. I'd take it back to the lfs and change it for an algae free piece.

Caulerpa, it can be managed. I'd pull the caulerpra off and keep the rock in there.
Let the coraline seed the dry rock.

do you really want to add something and have to start fixing things, thats just what you see, what about what you dont see...i would take it out and get some rock that you know has nothing bad.

You can remove it with tweezers. Also the rock has coraline & maybe good bacteria that help seed the new white rock.
