I just gor gome from work and noticed I had what looks like black/purple agle or something growing on my sand bed what is this

Looks like Red Slime Algae

My sand bed also had what looks like dark grey spots on it, will this hurt/kill my fish and corals I have in there?

Have you tested the water?
What kind of lights do you have ?

I haven't tested the water in about a week+ and I'm running led's

Aquarien eco is what the name on the lights say

I sometimes get that in my tank where there’s not much flow I usually siphon it out it usually goes away I would check your parameters to be safe

Do you have any kind of cleanup crew in there ?

Looks like a little cyano; no big deal so just syphon it out and check/adjust water parameters. Lot of "remedies" on R2R - just search

Ok thanks guys, I just got home and seen this and scared the crap out of me lol, I've never seen this cause I used to hand a sand shifter star, if maybe I were to add hermits wouls that help out with the sand situtation?

Definitely would help some hermit crabs will do a number on all types of algae

Cyano and simply add flow towards that spot. For now, you can siphon it up. Chemiclean also works very well.

Hey @vetteguy would that work with green alge also?
