Hello,
I posted about it before but I found someone that wanted to get rid of 150 gallon tank in the home they just purchased. Obviously I jumped on it. It was free. When I got there the tank had obviously been neglected for a long time. Somehow there were six living fish in the tank. Two clowns, coral beauty, banana peel angel, black and white fish I don’t know and another fish I don’t know. When I got them back I tested the parameters of their water.
Ammonia- .75,
nitrates- off the charts,
pH off the charts,
nitrates 0 salinity 1.035.
I have set up a quarantine tank with an extra 10 gallon tank I had I understand this will be tight but do not have the funds to get something bigger I put about 10 pounds of live rock that was very well cultured from the old tank that had lots of Coraline on it. I have a small wave maker in there and hang on back filtration and a Air rock running
What is the suggested this to look for during the QT tank? The coral beauty seems to have troubles staying upright and flips on its side often. The banana peel angel has a lot of black and ain’t around its eyes. The other fish look okay. I will get pictures after I am done accumulating the fish

Well, not certain how you got this for free but that is a nice score.

I would set up the 150, put all new water in it, rinse off the live rock to remove gunk, fresh water rinse gravel/sand if there was any. The sand should be rinsed completely clean so that there is no dirt or dust (fines) before you put that into the 150.

6 fish could live in that set up if you only have limited water circulation, for a lot longer time than what is happening in the 10 gallon. I might keep the Coral beauty in the 10 since it seems to be in poor health. No need to let it die and stress the other fish, perhaps?

Those 6 fish in a 10, I would find a local fish store to take them now before I tried to keep them alive in the puddle.

It was a nice score. I have a 75 gallon tank up and running for a month now but am worried about the 2 clowns with my other 2 clowns. The new 2 clowns are significantly smaller then the 2 existing. I put about 15lbs of the rock from the old tank into my 75 because it was much more cultured. Would that be enough to handle the new bioload.
