Help me understand Phosphates RX (lanthanum chloride)

Corals look good. No deaths since setting up this year, but growth is rather limited to be honest.

Algae wise is not so much. Just on the back glass and I feel like it’s increasing, but it isn’t on the rocks.

I don’t have a refugium, just a sump with skimmer, filter socks, uv, and dosing pumps.

For some tanks, 0.25 PO4 might cause some issues (eg acro tank). For what you’re doing, I wouldn’t sweat it too much if the coral looks good and algae isn’t bad.

I would be surprised if slow growth in your tank was attributable to PO4. Not at that level. Softies in particular benefit greatly from feeding.

It’s probably good to nudge the PO4 down over time, but I wouldn’t mess around trying to make a big drop quickly.

Ok guys, got the Hannah ppb checker and phosphate RX.

Here are my results

Before adding phosphate RX, it translates to 0.175

After adding a small dose of 150 drops in my 300 gallon tank, it translates to 0.113

Extremely happy with the results. No deaths from fish and corals. I finally have control with phosphates!

Check it 24 hours after adding the drops. It gives the skimmer time to get out the bound precipitate. I also turkey baste the holes in one rock after treatment. It must be a phosphate sink, a white cloud always comes out of the holes the next morning after a dose.

Question- After dosing into shock, how long do I leave the shock in? Fills up quick and the cloudynsss is gone, time frame? . I also have a skimmer running.
