I have an Innovative Marine Nuvo 40. I'm dealing with a lot of fish crap building up in my sand bed. (Fiji Pink, about 1 1/2 high). Theres about 30lbs of rock in the tank, with an arch, placed in the center of the tank so the fish can swim all around it, and through it. A few pieces of small rubble scattered in other places along the bottom. I have 2 power heads. One is the Innovative Marine wave link, and the other is a Koralia 3rd gen. Each is placed about 1/3rd down the tank, in the front, parallel to each other. I have the IM wavelink running at 8 out of 9, and the Koralia is just whatever the setting it comes out of the factory at. I get a lot of fish poop built up in various areas all over the sand bed. I can see it just sitting there. I have tried having one power head in the front of the tank on one side, and the other towards the back of the tank on the other side. Still no change. If i put them too low, then I am left with a tornado of sand in my tank. I have had the tank running for almost a year, and I can never seem to find the sweet spot to keep this S**t suspended in the water column. Just looking for some tips you might have.

Get the hydor controller so you can control it, or upgrade wavemakers. You can get small jebao sow’s for under $100. You want your wave makers to ramp up and down or pulse, or both. The slow flow time let’s the heavier sand particles fall back down while keeping detritus suspended in the water which allows it to flow through your filter chambers.

The wave link has like 5 different modes, which all vary. Right now, its on pulse, but I have tried all of them with no success. You can even set the speed of pulses, and time between them. Are you also suggesting that they be a little lower in the tank, as to get that sand moving?

I should also mention that I have about 5 fish in there, and my IM dc skimmer barely makes any skimmate. I might empty the cup once every 3 weeks, and even then its only a little full. That's in my second chamber, and i have tried raising and lowering the cup. So Im getting all this crap built up in the sand bed, and really nothing in my skimmer.
