Hi all please help me with my Jack-o'-lantern coral. Not sure what's going on with it. All my other corals are growing very nicely and extremely healthy but this little guy seems to be struggling. I've been moving it around the tank and it doesn't seem to help. I've had it for maybe about a month and a half now.

When I first got it I placed it near a Hollywood stunner and thinking maybe it was stung? I moved it into a shaded area last week and left it there for 3 weeks while I was on vacation and came back and nothing changed. So I moved it to this corner where's there's some more light and flow...

Running out of ideas. I was thinking of maybe placing a cylinder on top of it and spot feeding it with Aquavitra fuel and a couple other things. I don't see any skeleton...

I was able a nurture a cyphastrea from almost all skeleton to fully healed with insane polyp extension but this little guy has me stumped

Edit: don't mind the tank looks dirty just came back from vacation

That doesn’t look good a t all.
From experience just leave it alone, it either recovers or it be history.

Browning is usually a product of nitrate or phosphate poisoning, assuming that all other parameters are OK. While every living things needs some N and P, too much start to inhibit photosynthesis, calcification and then can affect other parts of tissue metabolism. At first, a coral gets brown with an excess of Zoox from the increased building blocks - if the levels get higher, then they can start to die.

All of this said, any other parameter that is out of whack can do this as well.

It is possible that it needs a bit more light, but that usually results in a lighter coloration and not browning.

Do you have a full list of parameters? Lighting, alkinity, alk, calcium, nitrate, phosphate, magnesium (not as important)?

At the moment no I don't have parameters(I can get them tomorrow) on me, I don't think it's a parameter issue because all my other corals are doing absolutely great and growing and fully of color.

Hey there Zeal, what ever happened to your lepto? i am having the same issue with mine now and my litho seems to have "caught" whatever it is as well.
I just checked all my levels and everything is in the "acceptable" range. I can post them here if there is any response to the thread.
thanks

I sure could use some help also I’d really like to be able to fix mine

Ditto, I also have a Jack o lantern doing the same thing. :-(

Same thing happened to my same lepto twice. Both times everything else was unimpacted. The issue wat phos and nitrates either jumping or declining. Once stabilized, they recover nicely. You can see mine under the last page of my build below with PAR readings, its next to burning man goni, right corner. It seems to like 180 range PAR. And, in both cases, it fully recovered. I would’t move it around much, you will just stress it more. Just leave it in moderate to high flow, under 200 PAR and get phos and other parameters stable.

Old thread I know but I have the same coral for YEARS now it’s turning white and getting smaller ....I have a video of it pooping out white particles I never seen that ...help!!
