Help mixing Tropic Marin All-For-Reef Powder

It will stay cloudy, it will settle a little after mixing, but no way can it be described as clear.

Odd, clear for me. Play by play below. I have read a few reports of users seeing it stay cloudy and it is using having an incorrect ratio. They packed the scoop vs weighing. Not saying that is the case here but at least what I've read around. @Lou Ekus may help.

Same as mine..if that was a glass of water I wouldn’t drink it, that is what I meant by not being clear, if you see the ready made AFR that is clear, which in my experience the powdered product doesn’t get that clear, there is a cloudiness to it.

Mines cloudy for a couple days then goes clear and leaves a brown residue in my dosing container.

I heat my RODI water in the microwave for a few min and then mix in the powder slowly on a mag stirrer comes out clear every time. I also let it mix for over an hr.

Tropic Marin have addressed that previously, they say it isnt an issue, separation of some of the elements, they said remixing isn’t necessary.

Well we are not talking about doing turbidity or suspended solid tests but it is more or less clear. That is all I was talking about as the photos I provided for reference.

No, we don't but the point is moot. Maybe yours is cloudy and stays that way. I don't experience that as you can see. However I'm guessing we are both happy with the product and results.

I just mixed my first batch of All For Reef from powder. Its a bit cloudy. Is it supposed to mix clear? I use a lab style mixer and heat the water to about 100f before mixing.

Why did you heat your water to 100F? I use RODI that is cold. Never have a problem with it not being clear

FWIW, the solubility of calcium formate rises a very small amount with temperature increases, but higher temps may also allow faster dissolution, independent of solubility.

That said, I would not expect the cloudiness remaining after dissolution to be calcium formate anyway.

100F might be a bit too warm... I warm mine just a little in a borosilicare beaker in the microwave. Only because my RO storage is in the garage and is quite cold in winter. Just warm enough it doesnt feel hot or cold to the touch. No exact science. I then fill an erlenmeyer flask to 900ml, set that on a kitchen scale and tare, add 160ml of AFR, add a stir pill amd set on my stir plate and allow it to mix until dissolved.

It will not mix 100% clear. It has a yellow brown tint to it and is slightly cloudy. It will also settle some. TM has said this is completely normal and the settling is excess iron that falls out of solution. The liquid you buy is clear and blue tinted, and you cant compare the two visually, but they do the same thing.
