i have gotten lazy with my testing of all elements of the water. salinity- 1.026, temp-75f, good bulbs, i am dosing with purple up and straight iodine. any ideas would be very helpful. oddly enough it is still growing. thanks

What type of lighting is the coral under? I have to keep my undata about 8-10 inches under a 250 halide in order to keep it nicely colored up. Any lower and the colors begin to fade out.

Stability is key. With proper PH, calcium, alk and good lighting it should grow and color up nicely.

Purple up also has Iodine. I would be careful what you dose, you can add too much iodine. I have used it in the past to get my coraline algae going, but with calcium and alk in check you should not need it. I do know from experience that purple up can cause your ph to swing up and down.

What are your tank specifics?

From what I have seen with mine over a couple years is it is sensitive to lighting. It likes a lot of light and will lose its color fast without it. Good luck.

If it is still growing and lightening up then I would attribute it to too much lighting and/or lack of nutrients. Are you dosing vodka/bacteria? What sort of lighting are you running?

What are your nutrient levels like?

Instead of using purple up you can use Kalkwasser, Bulkreef has a huge 3-5gallon bucket for 30 dollars or so. It's like the purple up calcium, but much more concentrated.

If possible, use 2 part as well, your coral is losing it's color due to lack of nutrients it needs to thrive.
