Help - mushroom melting

Looking for some help on what to do. My mushroom started melting from the middle outwards. i dipped it in some iodine but not sure what i should do now?

Are you positive it was not splitting? If it was melting, check parameters especially Ammonia, phosphates and nitrates

I am not sure if it was splitting. I've never had a mushroom split so i assumed they split from a side and didnt form a donut. My nitrates did spike from somewhere between 0-5 to 10-20 (using an API test and thats what the colors look like to me) due to me dosing nitrates. I didnt think mushrooms would be affected by that.

just finished a 10 min iodine dip and now have put it back into the tank. should i just leave it and hope it recovers?

My mushrooms stretch out their foot and detach over a couple days. Within a week there is a tiny mushroom head on the foot portion that detached. On the other hand, I had one wedge itself in a pond basket and the parts that stuck out ended up severing themselves and floated to other locations.

i think you made a good call. it seems to be splitting. the sides have come apart and its two separate oval shaped mushrooms now. i still see what looks like mushroom guts everywhere but they both inflate so assuming this is normal splitting process.

Excellent! sounds like it was just splitting haha don't worry I was freaking out the first time it happened to me too. I still get worried when I see it because I'm never 100% sure that's what's happening lol
