Help!! My birdsnest is dying?

I bought this guy about 1 month ago and he is withering away. Too much light? Too little? Brown Jelly? Everything is thriving in tank except a regression on a wellso which I included a pic of also. Got him same time at a Frag show in Chicago. Not sure what to do and need some advice.

Params are mostly stable. ALK has moved a bit from 9.5 to 9.8.

I could be wrong but it looks like you have a possible coral muncher judging from the pics.

You can really see what looks like brown algae in the spots that are decayed. It is blowing in the flow. There are 3 large hermit crabs and 2 or 3 super small ones in the tank. Fish are 2clowns 3 anthias, 1 chromis and 1 royal gramma. Maybe hermits are eating the brain.

I took your picture and marked, blue arrow, of what appears to be an organism of some type. You have polyp extension on certain parts of the birdnest while other parts look pretty barren of any tissue.

Thank you guys. I did re-look with a flashlight and magnifying glass and that blue spot is just a new nub with polyps on it. Your right that all polyps are extended and looking good, except for the dead tissue parts lol. Which are mostly tips.

It was full when purchased and then the tissue degradation started on 1 tip. Has advanced to all tips in a week. The one below it looks good too., but shows some skeleton on the underside.

Might be that jump in alkalinity bird's nest are pretty sensitive to alkalinity movement. I had a jump in alkalinity and lost half my bird's nest colony but it is slowly coming back.
