Any idea what the light patch is around this Tang’s belly. It wasn’t like that last night.

I got this Tang on Tuesday. It’s in QT with a Harlequin Tusk and Lamark’s Angel. I started adding copper yesterday, but am ramping up slowly. I have only seen it peck at a couple pieces of Mysis so far. The others are eating but are very timid.

Could be a bacterial infection. IME I have had tangs get lighter colored stress markings when in QT and during copper treatment. Can you get a more clear up close pic by chance?

It’s still not very light in my bedroom so this is the best I can get for now. Will try after work today.

It does have a few white spots but I’m not too concerned about the Ich portion of this.

So what would be the best way to proceed? I’ve got about 1/3 of the copper in there already. I’ve got Kanaplex, Metroplex and Formalin on hand right now.

I would probably dose Kanaplex now (which mixes well with copper) as a precaution. But if the splotch is still there tomorrow, bring out the big guns and add Furan-2 + Metroplex to the mix.

I would dose Kanaplex + Furan-2 + Metroplex. That covers a wide range of bacterial diseases.
Agree that’s a nasty infection there!

Agree with @4FordFamily and @Humblefish now that you posted good pics. For sure bacterial infection going on there.

Good luck man. Just follow the dosing instructions for each med. Try to gap the dosings of each med a bit if possible, especially the days when you have to dose all three. 25% WCs every other day.

Fish are slow to respond to ABX but if you so see improvement continue the course for 10-14 days regardless.

I have the “plexes” but not the Furan. Do full dose of each or smaller doses spread out? Should I hold off on the copper a little? There are a few spots but not bad.

It is 4’x12”x21” with some live rock and pvc, so I figure 50g(ish)

I would hit the QT with full dosages and treat for 10-14 days.

dangit...I took both out and just dosed what I thought was the Metroplex but realized I had both out and put the Metroplex in the Kanaplex box. I’m going to not second guess myself, but hope I am not double dosing the same med and missing the other. [emoji51]

Well...I got up this morning and the Naso died overnight. The Harlequin Tusk and Lamark’s Angel appear to be fine with no outward signs of anything.

Should I continue with the Metro and Kanaplex or just continue with the copper moving forward?

I would continue with Metro and Kanaplex as a precaution, just in case some harmful bacterium from that fish is now waterborne.
