I’ve never had any parasites in my new tank but made a bonehead move and put some LFS macro algae in my sump a few weeks ago.

I just noticed a single discolored spot on “Gorgeous”, my 4 year old daughter’s Blue Eyed Tang. Have had it for about 6 months along with that Scopus in the background. Now that I’m Looking more closely at the Brown Scopus “Charlie” - I notice he has a lighter discolored spot where his body is very dark.

Fins and gills look fine - other tank mates (13 fishies) all look fine.

Tangs run the tank and don’t get nipped.

The white specs in picture are floating debris and micro bubbles.

Could be flukes (a simple and harmless fresh water dip can confirm? Or it could be lympho, also harmless. Just my opinion.

Here’s a better photo - right above her pectoral fin.

Behavior is fine and normal. Spot almost has an indentation to it.

Following up - I was gone for a week camping and came back to a blemish free Gorgeous. Either she healed up or the cleaner shrimp helped her. Glad I didn't jump into solution mode - something I've gone overboard frequently on in my short time with this hobby.

Solution mode is a tricky thing isn't it? My tank is co-maintained by my wife and I. I have a strong tendency to keep my hands out of the tank. If something is wrong, I wait to see if nature will balance out in time.

My wife is the opposite, she sees anything and wants to immediately ID it, solve it, and nip it in the bud.

Neither of us is right all the time but I think the balance is better than either of us would be alone.
