I got this tang a few weeks ago.
Everything was fine until yesterday I saw some white spots on it.
Today it got worse and the white spots are now also turning black and with the lights out it's even red...
I thought it was a case of ich, but now I don't know.
Help me ID please so I can treat him accordingly

you should start setting up a hospital tank if you don't already have one and wait for a fish med to reply.

Running UV and giving the tang a fresh water dip has helped in my case, but I’m not an expert. IMO it’s a parasite and those are hard to get rid of and this tang is very prone to get it

Really need pics under white light intensity but this appears to be mucus plugs which this fish is susceptible to and often starts with skin irritation. Other occupants generally dont show signs but you will want to keep an eye on them for developments. As this is often mixed with ich or risk of, you will want to treat fish in separate tank using coppersafe or copperpower at 2.25 level of treatment.

Tough to say what’s going on here - pics under white lights may help.

Black spots alone on a tang are often turbellarian worms. However, those don’t start out white and change to black.

Are any other fish in the tank showing spots?

Thanks guys for helping, I'll make some pics under white light when I get home. And I'm setting up a hospital tank today too!
He is eating and breathing normally too. He scratches itself on the rocks often and goes up to my cleaner shrimp. Other fish in the tank do not show any signs of any sickness/spots

So I wanted to give an update how it goes with the tang!
I've managed to heal her with this combination: frozen food topped with garlic oil from AF, ginger powder and 15 drops of Protomor.

All the spots went slowly away.
None of the other fish were affected by this. They also ate from the foodmix with all the ingredients.

In Europe we are not able to get some of the medications that are reef safe in the US. So I hope that this can also help someone else as a method to try when you can't quarantaine.
