That looks like a pretty serious physical injury. Could it have been damaged to transfer to your home? You may need to treat this with an antibiotic...do you have a treatment tank? You might also want to contact the store to let them know.

Yes, I think that’s a good choice. I’ve seen many lions make incredible recoveries, I lost a spear tip in the head of a volitian and it got away (I’m a liscensed lionfish hunter, not a fish killerIt is in a tank now by itself, I've herd Methylene Blue would be best
). The next week I saw the same fish, swimming around with my spear tip in its head! I got him that time, but he had to be pretty resilient to be able to survive getting shot in the head like that. A good diet, healthy dose of antibiotics, and nice parameters should put him on the road to a quick recovery

Maybe try shooting @lion king a pm or maybe he’ll show up here. He’s the resident lionfish expert and has probably dealt with/seen this type of thing before. Do you know how deep the wound is? Is it just a little bit of ripped skin or a deep laceration? The Lion is eating and swimming well right?Awesome, thank you that really helps me in my search and what to get
Yes it is a physical injury and seems to occur very frequently with lions, either through collection or transport. Methylene blue would not be the right choice to treat that wound, a broad spectrum antibiotic would be the best choice. Kanaplex is a good choice unless you have experience and success with another, which would be fine. Lions do not handle meds well but that does look like a substantial wound. As much as I generally have a wait and see approach with treating lions, this looks like you may not want to wait. Try feeding him a live molly, not only do lions sometimes need something live to settle them into captive living; the live food would be more beneficial to his immune system. Under pristine water conditions and live food many lions recover from wounds and even bacterial infections without the need for medications.
