Help! My Scoly looks like dying

Hi Everyone,

I'm not sure why my scoly is not opening recently. I got an algae bloom in a week, could that be the reason? and how can I fix it?

I think its a trachy and is too far past the point of return. When you see the white skeleton it is a bad sign, especially with that much recession. I would post your parameters to see if people can help for the future.

Looks like a trachy. I have scolys, I’ve lowered my phosphates recently and they seem to be doing better. It seems everyone has different thoughts on how much phosphates though. Presently mine are reading .03 I also have one showing a bit of skeleton, don’t give up it may recover.

Its a trachyphiilia and this is recession and Ive seen them bounce back from worse. Sand can and may irritate them, so I try to elevate slightly off sand, even on a flat piece of rock. Moderate light and water flow is best and assure Phosphate not highly elevated and inspect for pests but other factors that can cause this is:
High or low salinity
Temperature too warm
Inadequate flow (to keep sediment off of them)
High alk
Low Ca

NO3: 2
Salinity: 1.025

I don't usually test other parameters

Maybe test your MG. Mine was reading 1000 at one point, once I bumped it up everything looked better, regaining their plumpness

I have both scoly's and trachy's in my tank.

I think your Nitrates are too low, my trachy's like it to be > 10.

They bounce back pretty fast normally under a week or two.

I'm alsoing dosing Brightwell NeoNitro to rise my Nitrates up a bit. I will be keeping eyes on it and let's see.
