I have a custom 120 glass cages tank and my little tiny two or so inch green sea hare keeps crawling into the overflow and getting stuck in the sump. I know I’m not the first person to have this issue. Does anyone know of anyone who makes custom overflow covers? Are magnets reef tank friendly or are there any that won’t rust or leach toxins? My idea is potentially to use some aquarium netting to cover it until I can find a more permanent solution.

I used some Innovative Marine ones a few years back (but these hang over the top edge and aren't that big). Sealed magnets are generally more resilient (but not all are rated for constant submersion).

Some mesh netting might be your best interim solution.

Ceramic magnets are supposedly reef safe. I have had some in my tank for a year and 7 months, got them from Hobby Lobby. I did the "hold some netting" with magnets for a bit.

Get rid of it before it ends up in one of your pumps and nukes the whole tank.
Sea hares, at least as far as I know, can't nuke a tank. I think they can ink, but from what I've read no issues. I had one I bought go MIA in the first week I owned it in a 32 gallon and no issues.

Yes they can ink when stressed but if caught in time and with adequate filtration it can have little consequences.

Will egg crate work for now?

It is likely not happy to be wandering so much. Are your nitrates high? If they have enough to eat, they usually are plenty happy just to stay in the rocks and chow down.
