Would really appreciate the experts chiming in here. Blue jaw trigger has been in quarantine for a week, and has developed a dark patch. I haven't seen anything like this before, could use an ID and recommended steps. Thanks!!!

He's been eating fine, and doesn't seem bothered by it...yet.

Looks like the beginning of a bacterial infection.

A very mild treatment would be to dose the QT with Ruby Reef Rally. It has both antiseptic and antibiotic qualities that can work very well. That and food laced with vitamins and Beta Glucan.

But bacterial infections can go sideways really fast. So to be prepared here's Humblefish's antibiotics advisory:

In doing some reading, I'm a little worried about Uronema. I can try to get a better picture tonight, but is this possible? I first noticed this Saturday morning, so it's been a little more than two days. It hasn't really gotten any bigger. He still seems OK, and eating well.

Uronema is usually identified by the "red sores" and rapid death. If you treat the fish for the bacterial infection with the "trifecta" of Metro + Furan2 + Kanaplex, you will also be partially treating for uronema as well. To complete the treatment for uronema, you feed the fish a mix of Metro + Food + Focus (a binder) once a day for 10-14 days.

Ok, yeah it seems like uronema would be faster, so I think I can rule that out. Here's the best picture I could get tonight. It looks whiter, like maybe it's healing up.
I haven't started any antibiotics, and I'm wondering if it makes sense to let him heal up on his own? Assuming all goes well, do I wait for this spot to completely heal before putting him in the display tank? His TTM end date is this Thursday.

Strange theory, but could it be possible that he burned himself by laying against the heater? I know, it sounds crazy. Just kinda looks like a burn...

try melafix as this is a blemish and not would.
What are you feeding fish AND Do add vitamins to its' food 2-3X per week

He's been in tank transfer since 1/25. Ive been feeding him a mix of mysis and NLS Thera+A. I did add some Kent garlic to his food once. I'm not sure what you mean by blemish. He didn't come like this, it happened in QT.

In comparing pictures, I'm noticing that the spot hasn't grown in size in 2.5 days. The appearance has only changed by becoming more white-ish. I'll get another picture tonight.
I'm really starting to think he got up next to that big 200 watt heater in the first picture for a couple seconds too long.
...maybe I have a "special" fish. ;Wacky
