Hello everybody!

So I have ran into some issues with the new frag system I recently installed 2 months ago. The tank has been up and running for about 2 months with the help of bacteria in a bottle (plenty of it). I just recently started to add some corals from my show tank to this behemoth and all of the corals are closing immediately after being placed inside the water. I tried adding a few zoas as well as a 4” elegance coral. Decided to leave both in the frag system for around 24 hrs to my surprise when i came back they were still closed and it didnt look good. When it comes to the display tank water parameters are close to identical. I ran all of the testing i could and this is what i came up with.

Salinity-1.025
Temp-77
Alkalinity- 10.3 (Hanna)
Nitrate- 0
Nitrate- 0
Calcium- 500
Magnesium- 1550
Ammonia- 0
Phosphate- (0-.25)
PH- 8

(2 Clowns and 1 Wrasse) in system.

like I said this tank has been up and running for a few on this now with plenty of live rock (60lbs) and an octo skimmer. I am currently running 4 t5 on the Metal halide along side 2 reef bright 48” led strips. Lastly I have 2 AI Hydras.

Please let me know if you guys see any issues.

Thanks,
Lou

I will Post photos of the setup along with everything I am running.

Just my thoughts. Alk is to high for zero nitrate. . Even if that’s your main tank numbers. Other than that it could simply be the lights. To much par to fast. Have you measured par in the main tank they came from compared to the frag tank? If not try turning down the lights. I’d get some detectable nitrates in there also. And bring down the phosphate to .1 slowly.

I added a 90 frag tank to my system. I dosed nitrate and phosphate to match my water before opening up the return and drain lines to the main system. It’s all plumbed together. My elegance and many other corals had no issues being transferred to the frag tank.

would that be enough to cause the corals to close?
Just a thought but it is possible there could be a pest at play here that went under spotted until just now also the switch being moved to the new tank which is got about 2 months in isn't as mature and established as your other display tank so the pest can have a bigger impact here I would imagine then they did in a healthy system that have been set up for a while
