I have a green bubble tip anenome and just purchased it. I havent feed it anything yet and was wondering if frozen brines shrimp was okay. How to do it.. Frozen or not. It is sort of stretched out like up towards the light so does that mean the light source isnt enough for it. I can get a new light so it will be happy. Also, I have two clown fish that havent touched it yet. That's the only reason I got my BTA was for them and they dont even seem interested. Please help me I am a newbie so I am just learning about this stuff.

First off good luck getting the clowns to host lol. I don't mean to discourage you as I'm still hoping my clowns will host my bta 5 months after adding it, and as is my dad and he's had his for over a year. There are some things you can try to help encourage them but it's a bit difficult. The bta will move around until its happy, if it's at the top of your tank and still stretching then yes you need stronger lights. As for feeding it, that's kind of a debate on whether you need to or not. I feed mine thawed out frozen mysid shrimp, but you can also use small pieces of krill or silversides to. After you feed it a big mean like that, and it's done digesting it, or it's to big to eat the anemone spits it back put and makes a huge mess. I don't feed mine big enough things yet as it's still a tad small, but when my dads does this the fish eat some of it. What they don't get will make a mess of your tank though.

What kinds of lights do you have? How long has your tank been established?

only from my personnel experience
They will move till there happy, flow and light.
proper lighting is required,
Salinity is quite important. 1.024 min 1.026 max. any higher or lower, mine was all angry. See the R2R article on refractometers.
Refractometers or Hydrometers: Why the latter should contain a warning - REEFEDITION
If dont have a refractometer, have a lfs or butddy check with refractometer.
I know there is so much cost in this hobby but a hydrometer is typically off.
they will sort of eat any thing form the sea. would stick with what it would catch naturaly. i.e. floating /swimming by. Nothing too large. They bring the food in,eat what they can and spit out. Brine shrimp are pretty divoid of nutrients.
I would try mysis, or small cut chunks of silver sides.
Have faith, my clown ignored it for 6mo, then i noticed the clown hosting a mushroom. the next day she found the anemone and has not left it since.
once clowns host, they will feed it, and it will also get calories form their waist.

Pe mysis or chopped up clams or squid. Never feed silversides! Stretching doesn't mean it needs more light.

I have had it for about 2 1/2 months now. I have a 55 gal with lots of live rock.Whatever is recommended for it. The tank was set up by my mans mom and we took it over cuz she didnt want it. We cleaned everything out and had to start new. I have 2 clowns 2 damsels a 6-line wrasse and a leopard puffer. I added the anenome for the clown and they dont even seem interested. The lights are just regular tank lights that came with it. 18 inch 15 watt. We bought another strip for the top of the lid. It can hold 2 lights. Do I need a coral life bulb and how are they different.

I have the percul something clowns . I cant spell that but they are the orange and white ones that is most commonly sold. The ones that are about 20.00. Percu... I cant spell it.

Idk... I think false but not sure. So if its false will it not host the BTA?

The fish dont host the anemone. Its the other way around. Percula and ocellaris are not hosted by btas in nature. So its really hit or miss with this combination.

They have bones and are generally hard for btas to digest. Its possibple for the silversides to rot inside the bta before it is digested. There have been numerous reported bta deaths from feeding silversides.

You're going to need better lights. Bubble tip nems are primarily photosynthetic. You can get by with feedings but I'd seriously look into a high output lighting source. You really should also research what requirements the animals have PRIOR to adding them to your tank.
