I have had this RTBA for 6 weeks now and only twice have I seen somewhat blown up and looking ok.

Why might this be my Sebae is doing great and my Params are good only issue would be Nitrate it runs around 20-30 most days. You can see my Sebae behind my Yellow Tang.

it is round 6-8 inches when open and yes I have fed it. It eats well. I paid 65.00 for it why do you ask

Anemones are harder to keep happy than some might think. I have had mine for a yr now. Everthing seems perfect in the tank but this guy still moves inspite of feeding silverslides. Whats nice is that it maintains the buble tip and nice color.

From what I have read and experienced, one needs to have a mature tank and decent lighting. I think 6 weeks is a short time to judge and find whats wrong. Give it some more time, you will find that it will try to relocate it self to some place that it likes in the tank eventually. Dont force feed, if you drop some meaty food on it it should take it, if it does not then be patient and wait couple of days.

How big is your tank? I've read (keep in mind I said read) that mixing anemone types can be problematic, but I don't remember what types they said are bad to mix.

Try doing a search on the RC anemone section about mixing Sebaes with BTAs.

Tank is 110 Gallons plus 15 in the sump... Been up a short time but have no issues with the Sebae and I understand they are harder to keep than the RBTA's.....

large fish load 13 fish with three large tangs...Decent clean up crew no issues with any algae run chaeto and the only param that is high is Nirtrate at 40-80 depending on when and how much I feed. today it looked as if it was inside out but still very sticky and attached upside down to a rock shelf....

Heya guys.
I am very new to this and very interested in a pair of clowns with anemones.
I will be reading more here but everywhere else I read says nitrates above 5 are bad for anemones? so whats the real scoop?
my nitrates range from 10-20 and I have been fighting to get them down consistently
(not just right after the water change LOL0
I was worried I would not be able to handle the anemones at all till I had my nitrates below 5?????

sorry again I am new and have tons of reading but have no real exp with anemones?

Fishy, I have had no issues with my Nitrates and my Sebae. It is doing great and my clowns love it to the point they are now laying eggs. Also keep in mind my Nitrates are normally around 40 or so and can swing up to 100......

Okay sounds like you might want to give the anemone time.Did you acclimate him to your lights? How did you acclimate him to your tank? How close are the 2 anemones?Any idea what could have caused it to become stresed? When they hang upside down that means that they are stresed.

Unfortunitly I have lost the RTBA.. RIP

I found the one reason for using RO/DI water the hard way, I noticed that after water changes (35 Gallon) that my nitrates would spike to around 140 looks like cranberry sauce with the API test kit. With the change of seasons my local water supply has been treating with amonia nitrate and I was pumping nitrates into my tank at the sum of 100+. So with the loss of a reef creature I have upgraded to an RO/DI unit and plumbed a ATO to my sump hopfully my nitrates will fall to respectful levels.
