So I am not posting this in the emergency thread as I’m not sure what I am dealing with at this point.

Tank’s new, its been in the works for three years and I have been tagging along on these forums for all that time and then some.

Tank is 90 days old give or take. 125g DT 40gal sump
Temp 79
pH 7.99
Nitrates 5ppm
Nitrites and amonia 0
Salinity 1.024

All have been stable since cycle finshed 60 days ago.

I’ve had 2 picasos and 1 midas for about 50 of those days. Healthy, eating, no issues.

A week ago I added a purple firefish which hid for 3 days, ate and was active for 3 days and died on day 7, Wednesday.

Today I suddenly lost one of the picaso’s.

No QT.

I bought everything I needed today for a med tank and was assuming at the speed this moved I was dealing with velvet. Clown was fine last night, looked a little sluggish this morning, dead 8 hours later.
No signs though, no spots at all. Pics to follow.

The blenny and remainig picaso look good, are active and eating.

I’m very torn on what to do. It’s hard for me to believe this was coincidence, but I hate to pull these two fish, do dips, and do copper if it was.

There are no visible signs of parasites that I can see.

Advice would be much appreciated. Tanks brand new, no corals, so I am ready to pivot as needed.

I’m tempted to continue observing the remaining two fish and acting if I see a reason.

Should I hit the med tank
Immediatly?

Here is the deceased clown:

Thanks in advance,

No symptoms whatsoever? No scratching, flashing, hiding from light, swimming into flow of wavemaker, loss of appetite?

Any new cleaners used or anything near the tank?

Hard to tell based on your description. With no QT it could be anything, but usually there is some sort of sign. Even if you don't see the white spots, normally there would be some of the above listed symptoms.

None of the above.

I did have a mass of people here for christmas eve and was cookng for 6 plus hours that day..
24 hours prior to the firefish death. But no new chemicals near the tank (or in the house). And no considerable drop in pH. (Monitored with a profilux4).

That’s why I am hesitant to start treatment. I’ve read through all humbles disease posts more than once just in case and nothing I have observed caused alarm in the time I have had livestock.

I passed the firefish death off to stress, the clown right after has made cause for more concern.

I’m home for the next 4 days so I will be watching the remaining two closely and am ready to roll for treatment now if suspicion arises.

No other fish will go in without QT, I had self imposed logic for not doing it at the start, but I’ve learned my lesson now. ( a good time to do so imo).

I appreciate the feedback @HotRocks and congrats on your and fords recent “promotion” in the community.

I lurk a lot more than I post, but you guys have been very valuable on my long and slow journey.

Well day two of observing the remaining two fish in the DT and so far so good.

Both are active and eating and showing no signs of parasites.

Hoping for the best...

Well one week later and my remaining two inhabitants are still appearing to be healthy and happy.

Got my my order from the pharmacy today, I’ll be ready from now on....
