Alright folks need a bit of quick help here bought new gold rush tang today after adding to tank my rusty angel fish chased it around quite menacingly for a while but I have seen this before so I left the house and have returned 2 hours later with the new fish looking like it has been bitten to near death and a blue damsel I have really pestering it !!! Lots of fins missing, I have quickly set up my old 30 litre biorb and have moved it into there just now. First if all will the fins re grow if I keep it healthy in the biorb ? The culprits am sure are the angelfish and the blue damsel I have who is a nasty piece of work !! He will be coming out tomorrow and going back to lfs if I can catch the little ####### !!
Is this the best I can do at the moment and what the tangs survival chances ??

Thanks

Keep the lights off on the qt and put a piece of pvc pipe in there for him to hide in.
Next you wanna make sure hes eating so feed him some nori and frozen food soaked in garlic,
To bump up his immune system.
Also youll wanna watch the water parameters since hes in qt so keep checking frequently.
And pray lol
Goodluck bud!

Cheers folks av taken about a kilo and a half of live rock out my main tank and put it in the biorb so hopefully
This will give me a decent bit o filtration as there's only about 25 litres of water in the qt. but al give it a test every other day, how long should I keep it in qt, am thinkin until I get the damsel and possibly the angelfish out the main tank but maybe I should wait till it's 100 % again. ( if it makes it that is !!!) Hate that damsel am sure it also contributed to the death of my royal gramma.

Also what you opinion on taking the angel and damsel out and putting them in my mates tank and letting the new tang get its own territory then bring the 2 back, would this work or would everything happen all over again

Cheers again :-))

Definitly find a new home for the damsel! as far as the angel what kind is it?
Also Before introducing the tang again I would take out the two suspects, put them in the qt, rescape the tank if you can, introduce the tang, wait till its comfortable and has established itself then if you want, reintroduce the angel. However you may see this problem again from the angel with the next addition of a fish.
Once a fish goes bad they never go back lol

Cheers mate it's a rusty angelfish, I have added a couple of fish since I got it and it it usually just kept them out of the rock work for a day or 2 by blocking the new fish off then it has been fine it may well be the damsel that has done all the damage, evil ###### !! Defo gonna get rid of it now, should be able to rescape the tank coz am probs gonna need to strip it down to catch the damsel unfortunately :-(

Awe man sounds like trouble
The damsels are always a pain!
But hey nows the time for any tank maintenence, large scale water change, anything at all! Lol
Always look at the glass half full lol

As far as helping the tang heal, Seachem Stress Guard would help disinfect the wounds, and vita-chem is great for helping regrow fins. Obviously, a good diet is important as well, and nice clean water.

Ok so first night in fish still alive no really coming out from the pipe much but is venturing out sometimes and is pickin at the food on the bottom. Gonna try get the damsel out tomorrow, any body any tips on catching it !!!

Ok you dont want to let the food sit too long because its going to cause an ammonia so
If hes not eating it after a little bit of time remove the food.
And try again later, really watch the parameters in the qt water changes will be your friend for a while.
As far as the damsel look up the bottle trap!

The bottle or, with aggressive fish such as the damsels, a mirror to distract them while you scoop them up from behind.
