Hey everyone so I have awful news, my mom set up her reef aquarium 2 months ago and jam packed it with corals against my recommendation (I’m in the industry) 3 of them have since died and I’ve done huge water changes to make up for it but since then her sculy has gotten steadily worse but everywhere I look I haven’t gotten any answers on what is happening to this poor baby. The mouth seems to get wider each time I come over and look at it, any ideas?

here it is currently and below what it looked like a month ago when she put it in her tank

She recently ordered the hanna test instruments because she was using dip strips so I’m not sure what the current parameters are (I’ll check once I go back over) but for saltwater we use nutriseawater, it’s a 65g running on one filter sock and a marine land canister filter

Did the tank cycle? When you can get them, what are the parameters for temp, salinity, alk, Ca? Lighting and flow?

The tank only cycled for a week, I told her she had to wait two months before adding any corals in but she didn’t, I did dip the scoly in coral RX and he seems to be doing better, just still has a bit of a gaping hole. I’ll be there Friday so I’ll update you on the parameters then!
