Help! Anyone that can honestly help my tank i'll repay the favor of housing my corals because im out of power till thursday:( Why did this snow have to come so early arrrgghhh! I live in emnaus, pa 18049 thanks in advance- Steve

If you were closer I'd surely loan you my generator and backup air pumps... The east coast got pounded for sure and coming from ND I can feel your pain. Hopefully someone closer has something to help.

I don't know for sure what sort of transportation options you have at the moment or even what stores are open, but if you can get some of those hand held heater things (tear open the pack and shake them to make heat) stick them on a blanket against the tank and wrap it up. Also just use a cup to circulate a little water and add air to the tank.

Hope all is ok when the power comes back on.

We're going on 46hrs w/o electricity (Harpers Ferry, WV) but I was finally able to buy a generator this a.m. Got the pellet stove, freezer, and aquarium pump&heaters back online. We only got about 4" snow on Saturday, but it was VERY wet and heavy, and the trees are still pretty full of leaves. Our yard looks like a disaster areas with all the broken limbs on the ground. And the ground is very soggy from the initial rain and now, melting snow.

I hope this is the first and last time that I'll need the generator !

I have had this problem a few times and gas exchange will be the most important thing to take care of the heat. If you can dipping a cup or small bucket in you tank and pouring it back in to cause air bubbles will help with gases. As for heat if you have a fireplace I would try to crank it up and seal off any rooms your not in. I hope this helps and good luck. I have had no power for 2 days once and for 3 days once, with doing the said above I was lucky to have minimal damage.

Gas stove? If so put tank water in pots and warm it on the stove and pour it in, do this twice an hour and it will add oxygen into the tank as well as keep the temperature stable.

Go buy a small camping generator enough to power any pumps and ur heater...

I tried keeping a 55 gallon fw tank alive during an ice storm that knocked out the power for days. It is a futile effort without a good source of heat. If you can't get a generator and heater, find another tank and transfer inhabitants. Best of luck.

I have used a power inverter before when I have lost my power. Even if you have to just run it for awhile then turn it back off. Hope you save your stuff.
