Yes you read that right.

Seems like a stupid question but I need a fairly small hose, say 1/2" ID about 40' long. I will be using it to supply water from my RO/DI water tank that is mounted high in my garage.

The problem is the hoe needs to coil easily and all the vinyl tubing I looked at kinks and is difficult to manage. I am looking for a ribbed hose similar to the Fluval ones but obviously longer and cheaper. Any ideas?

Tried that before posting. Did you see a specific product that you recommend?

Try an RV supplier and look for a drinking water type garden hose for potable water. I would replace the brass ends with plastic repair couplings or use the normal barbed conectors for vinyl tubing since RO/DI can be agressive.

I think even WalMart has these hoses in their automotive/RV area.

Just thinking out loud, and if cosmetics is not a primary concern, you could use a smallish pvc pipe and fittings to create a conduit for the regular vinyl RO/DI line to fit inside, thusly avoiding kinks and any metals or metal connections. Again, won’t be pretty, but it would work to prevent kinks and to protect the tubing on such a long run.

As a travel trailer owner that was my first thought but the hoses tend to flatten unless under pressure.

Unable to find anything else, I bought a 50' length of the Camco hose with 5/8" internal diameter. Turns out it fits onto a 1/2" plastic hose barb perfectly. Will be setting up on a hose reel with all plastic parts.
