folks -

I have this 1/16” hair like creature that covers itself in Dinoflagellate looking rust brown dust. It seems to ride on new coralline algae like substance. It started on a rock in the dark and worked its way up to the light. It doesn’t appear to kill anything and doesn’t see to bother corals

I can blow off the brown stuff to see this white or light purple covering.

It’s starting to climb down the rock toward the substrate

I am including a link to a video.

Any help appreciated
Tom

Gonna need a better pic of video to be of much help.

Let’s see if this is better.

Here is a new video with more light.

Oh yeah yesterday I took a tooth brush to the area which is why it’s as light as it is.

Thanks I’ll look into different hair algae’s

Thanks. The thing migrated from the back of the tank to the top middle. At least in my case it seems to leave a whitish coralline algae behind in it trail which then turns purple. It doesn’t seem to grow on actual rock or anything else.

I moved a Montipora that it was surroundings left a little there. It slowly took up that real estate but didn’t run over or effect the left over piece of coral.

It’s odd
