Like to water proof my stand inside and out . What paint hold up long term . And water proof ideas

I like appliance epoxy for the interior of wood stands and canopies. Exterior Kilz then whatever if painting.

Caulk and paint make it what it ain't.....

Like mentioned definitely caulk the cracks with paintable caulk first, then a standard acrylic paint will do great and won't break the bank or stink up the house or give you a headache while doing it.. :)

I used this,

to paint this going on 3 years ago.

Used about 4 coats on plywood. It has held up really well, gets spilled on and water just beads up' easy to wipe up. I used gloss black, not sure what other colors are available. The stuff is tough as nails.

Home Depot sells a product that is basically a paint on rubber called “flex seal”. Works great.
Omg no, that stuff smell so bad I opened a can in the house and it almost made me move!! It smells like gasoline don't do it!!!!!!!!!

And why would you want to paint a stand rubber? How much water do you get on your stand?

Totally forgot the kilz primer! Need to seal that wood.

I like black, so I used this paint on the exterior, and appliance epoxy on the inside(in white so you can see!).

Once it dries there is no smell.
I'm sure, this is the case with most paints, but if it's in your house when you need to paint it I would not use this product, I wouldn't use it anyway for my tank stand but if someone does make sure it's outside far away from people and animals..

Hey me too!:)

Going on 2 years with this stand. All plywood(baltic birch), and no issues so far.

Salt creep, and spills wipe right off. Any water spilled on the inside is easily cleaned up. The holes for the electric, were primed, and painted also. No water can come in contact with bare wood.

Old photo of it getting finished before I put the tank on it, and put the doors on.

Don't forget to light sand between coats(I recommend 3) for that nice glossy finish.

I used the Flex Seal when I installed my lower kitchen cabinets to prevent them from water damage. I ended up using a primer and an exterior black paint on the interior of my stand.
I used a yoga mat on the bottom to trap
any water and to help cushion my sump.

You’ve got a lot of good options mentioned here…. Good luck.

Looks good :D Love working with bb.

Since smell has been brought up, for all the good appliance epoxy is, it does not smell good :)
