I got a salifert kit from Nicki (Thanks!!!!) The reading on it show that the PH is between 8.0 and 8.3

The 2 API kits I have are showing the PH at 7.4....

The Alk is about 161.1 or 9 dKh

I just calibrated my refractometer (thanks WIll and NIcki) and the salinity is at 35ppm (1.0264)

Not sure what to do about the PH. Should I throw out my APIs and trust the Salifert?

Thanks for the help

Go and get a pinpoint PH probe, its worth it. Calibrate it and you are good to go. API are not that bad, I have used both salifert and api. You have to follow the api directions to the letter and shake the chemicals very well before use. There is a waiting time also.

The API pH kit is impossible for me to read. It changes color to me depending on how you hold it. Sometimes it looks brown, sometimes purple, sometimes I can't tell which. I wouldn't stress at all over pH but make sure your salinity, Calcium, alkalkinity and Magnesium are in line and the pH will follow.
