Help on skimmer - foaming after 24 hrs still.

Skimmer is bubble magnus curve elite 9.
Skimmer is foaming like crazy even after 24 hours of being on.

It this normal?

I have had new skimmers before and never head this much foam even in a break in period.

Water Level is at 10.5 as recommended.

Thoughts please? Need some help.

I’m like a month in and my Curve 5 is still going nuts sooo we’ll see what people say but I’d bet that you have a lengthy break in period ahead of you. It’s not unheard of with these skimmers, from what I’ve read.

Maaan. A month??? That’s crazy. How would they expect for people to use these skimmers if tanks were already established and all.

Mines 24 hours in, what depth do you have????

I have a Curve 7 and yes this is normal for the Curves but after it breaks in they really do kick butt. What I did was just let it keep draining back into the sump and just check it everyday and then close the drain when it starts to operate properly, mine was a new tank setup and it took a couple of weeks to break in but like I said I'm really impressed with it. Good luck.

What setting are you running it on by the way? Ok the adjuster that goes from min to max.

When new I set it at max after break in I came off max by maybe a 1/8th of an inch is all.

Oh yeah I went through the same thing and at first was really bummed out but I started doing research and found that it's normal to foam like mad and now I'm happy I chose it.

I have a curve 9. I ran mine in the typical vinegar break in solution but it still took a few weeks. It did overflow that bad then cleared up, then overflowed that bad again with dd aquascape putty then cleared up, and now I'm in a perpetual cycle of overflow vs underskim. Very finicky skimmer ime. It doesn't like frozen formula 1 & 2 food either. Im starting to think it's too big for my current stock. I've still yet to get that really dark skim im in search of

I honestly think it's just because it's too big for what I have right now. It's very hard to tune an oversized skimmer. Currently sitting in 10" water @setting 4.25. It will go nuts skimming 1-2 times a day then go idle the rest.
