I made a change to the tank yesterday and checked water this morning and phosphate has gone off the scale.

I have removed the culprit so I know it will come down.

Made a small water change this morning, whilst I mix some salt and put a polyfilter in too. Also dosed an addition 3ml of nopox.

The question is should I bring it down as quickly as it went up or gradually over 3 or 4 days?

I can put a phos reactor in which I know will bring it down quickly, do more water changes and by end of today would be below 0.06.

The tank is a reefer 450 and has been running at nitrate 2 and phos between 0.03 and 0.045 for past 19 months.

Thanks

Paul

Ps the culprit is a piece of dead rock that I thought had cured but clearly not

I have just switched on a deltec reactor with about 3 inches of NYOS phos remover to bring it down.

Also going to do a 10 % water change in an hour.

Quick update.

Done a 20% water change and had a phos remover working for past 4 hours and back down to between 0.045 and 0.06. Have switched reactor off and now going to let skimmer and nopox do it's stuff to bring it down.
