Can anyone suggest what kind of sand to use for my new tank? In the past I have Tropic Eden Reeflakes and while I liked the sand I was looking at other options.
I need about 40 pounds.
What are the best sands out there?

Also thinking about dry sand as well. I was thought that live said cost a lot more but from what I am seeing, the costs are pretty much the same.

Just looking for some recommendations.

Thanks!

Just put the Fiji pink in my 180 and seems to be a good choice. Watchman goby loves it and so does my melanarus wrasse. Piled up a little extra in the back for the wrasse. I did have to pull up my flow from the power heads so it didn`t move around so much, but was easy enough.

The reason I like the tropic eden (mix of 2.5 and 3.0) is with the much larger powerheads used these days the sand blows around much less. So we're I to switch it would look for grain size as my primary factor

whatever you choose, pre rinse it so that its cloudless upon setup no matter what you do to it. even if its live sand you bought/wet pack, still mass rinse it-this doesn't sterilize it. when we buy live sand, its not worms and pods, its just wet sand. you'll make it wetter by rinsing :) and you will love the zero cloud instant start.
