I am starting up a garden variety type tank. Intend to have a few LPS, mushrooms. I like to have some motion in the tank (coral wise). I am looking to have something that will grow over the rock work without being too invasive (like star polyps). Are there any xenia that don't grow over everything. Any suggestions welcome. Want to have nice color.

I think most soft encrusting corals like GSP are quite aggressive growers.
If you like a bit of flow, but don't like how xenia grows like weed in your tank, have you considered a kenya tree?

kenya tree Is a good start but those also can break off and grow in other parts on the tank. I skip that as well.

clove polyps - grow well but need low flow, easy to manage
duncans- dont grow over the rock work but they grow like wildfire for me and add lots motion
xenia - be cautious, completely took over my friends tank

not to many LPS will encrust and also add movement. most of the "wavy' lps are non encrusting species of coral except maybe the encrusting gonipora, it tentacles are short though

Thanks, So yes - Kenya tree will spread where you don't want it (had some before). I do plan on having some LPS and SPS in the tank. The last tank I had some
Clavularia that didn't seem too invasive but ended up moving a little while after putting them in so don't know for sure. Had to sell the tank when I moved.
Zoes will grow nicely, just trying to get a few things in the tank that will move with the wave action.
Any more ideas??
