I inadvertently switched my DOS to on instead of auto. Dumped a good amount of 2 part into aquarium. I am doing an emergency wc. But what else can I do to help correct? My pH shot up and my all as well. Hanah showing 20 alk. Ph 8.6.
Thanks! (What an idiot I am! )

To lower PH you can dose vinegar or carbon dioxide - for alk you can do 2 things - a waterchange, every day 15% for 3-5 days should do the trick, or let it drop naturally (i'd go the Waterchange route - if you do that, PH should resolve itself during that aswell)
Make sure you measure PH & alk every day, before your waterchange

Thanks. Will try this! Hopefully I just didn't kill everything.

water changes monitor,kh too high,

You should be fine, you could even do a 25-30% waterchange if you have the water on hand - just make sure to drop the PH slowly - as a large shift in PH is imo more dangerous than such a large shift in alk
Ok will keep that one monitored. I did a 30% wc abd I am making water for another 30 right now. I will do that second 30 slowly then. Thanks so much!

Yes, water changes are your best friend here. I’ve done something similar with kalk. I lost many sps but everything else came through. Good luck.

try 5 gals an hour or so

How much and what kind of livestock do you have in your tank? Depending on your livestock, you may not have to do anything, or you may have to do a lot.

- Are your fish in distress? If there's only a few critters, I would remove them to a 5g bucket with new water, or some other kind of holding tank.

- A sudden jump to 15 dKH may kill your acropora, if you have any.

- If your tank is reasonably small and high alk is a problem, I would do a large water change instead of trying to tweak alk back into range.

Water change today and tomorrow

I have a 75g. I have 15 fish. Most of them small, gobies etc. Only my foxface is large.
I cant see any of them, the water turned white. Here is a pic.
After the emergency WC alk is at 12. The vinegar dropped pH to 8.2.
Hopefully I can avoid a total crash.
(What an idiot!)

disregard 5 every hour for now, do another 20 gal as soon as mix clears ,go from there ..watch ph

Update: water has cleared up a bit. Ph is now range bound after the water changes. I also can see many of the fish. They are hiding in their caves but I don't see them breathing fast or with any noticeable distress. I can see some of the corals too. Most retracted. Except my gsp which is completely open.
I do see a lot of precipitation on the rocks and glass. No surprise since I turned the water to milk. Any additional things I need to do for that?

Well, staying optimistic. Maybe this is the emergency I needed to graduate from total noob to intermediate... A heart attack later.
Thanks everyone for the help. This site really is a fantastic community.
