Help please , Pyramid Butterfly itch or no ?

Had this pyramid butterfly fish about 3 weeks , no new fish added since , he swims all over tank, eats very well twice a day but noticed lots of white tiny

pin type spots on body including fins and head/body when I put Full blue led on, praying not itch. He spends time with cleaner shrimp throughout the day. Other fish all seem totally fine as well . Any advice from anyone would be appreciated. Tried to get pics and may need to expand to see clearly .

2. I would try to feed very high quality food .
3. It could be cryptocaryon or velvet - with partial immunity. Any other symptoms?
4. Was it quarantined - dewormed, where did you get the fish?
5. Did you QT your other fish - before adding the butterfly?
Lets ask the disease experts? - but I think the answers to those questions will help before they answer.

Hi, hes been eating very well, Live food and formula 2 pellets and other pellets, no other symtons, seems very happy, I bought the fish from a reputable online dealer called salty revolution uk who quarantine all their fish for min 14 days (I have no QT facility),

I would agree that it looks thin and some coloring issues. I assume you meant ich and not itch. I would try and remove it if you have another tank that you can put it in to treat it. I also agree with everything MnFish said.

Looks very thin as MnFish1 mentioned, if you can get live black worms, get him eating those, you will thank me later, your other fish will too.
Main thing is to get weight on him, or he will loose battle since he is obviously sick, best of luck with him.

I know it sucks to maintain a quarantine tank. But let me share my story with you --

Had nice collection - 1 longnose butterfly, 2 hippo tang, yellow angel fish, pajama cardinal fish, blonde naso tang, kole tang.. All fish are in my system 4+ year. Very healthy. I bought 3 clown fish after 5 years, and asked my LFS if they are going through copper treatment. Obviously, they would never say no. I trusted them; after drip acclimation, I put them in the system directly. Fast forward a few days; all fish are infected. So, I created a quarantine tank to treat them. I treated them with copper.

Just so you know, I was only able to save blonde naso tang.

I'm a big believer of QT system, even though they are bought by reputable dealer. due to my negligence, I lost most of my fish recently.

To me, it looks like an ich. Do a freshwater dip no more than 3mins. Treat them with copper and formalin solution. Be extra careful not to mix both solution in same container. Also, to maintain a QT, you can just use home depot or lowes 5 gal bucket or 10 gallon extra strong totes. Throw in a powerhead or airstone/heater.

I might show them pictures. Its possible that either the fish came with the parasite (and it does have a parasite) - OR - your tank has a parasite in it already. It is really very thin to my looking. It could have an intestinal parasite as well. I would ask the company from which you bought. IMHO - no offense to you - its not a healthy fish.

If the fish is 'eating' (I think you said that) - the issue is not eating - its whether its digesting what its eating. My guess is it has an internal parasite - which may be causing it to have less resistance to other parasites. Who knows. Thats why I suggest strongly - you ask the place from which you bought the fish.

I bought some bloodworms yesterday , are black worms different as haven’t seen them in LFS , he had been eating pellets , live food and mysis flake

If it is eating well, but is thin, it likely has internal parasites . That combined with the ich it has is going to make this very difficult to treat. I see a lot of other people have weighed in here, so I’ll sit back, but please ask my any specific questions you may have.

Thank you, just taking it all in, its 1015pm in UK now so will have to see what I can do in the morning as I have no treatments available or anything to use for a QT

CI (Cryptokaryon irritans) - Marine Ich. So copper, or a number of other agents - I do not knwo what you have available there - your LFS should know. Plus the treatment for the internal parasites - which can be a food, or in the water.

There is some natural spotting to the brown face of the pyramid, but picture shows pretty clear ich to me. Cleaner shrimp wont remove the ich unfortunately. I’ve had a bunch of pyramids over the last decade. No internal parasite issues, but did lose two to what looked like intestinal blockages.
