I have a Red Sea Max Nano 20 gallon ALL IN ONE

Running Filter Sock , Skimmer , Carbon

weekly 5 Gallon Water Changes.

1 Hydor 425 Powerhead

So I’m having a couple of issues here , I have algae growing on rocks I personally removed a lot that was on the back wall of my tank.. any recommendations. My LFS told me stop feeding reef roids for a week and see what happens .
now my light ? It’s a reef LED 50 .. I’m starting to grow acropora on my top rock closest to the light ... but I’m not getting any polyp extension.. also I have the power head in direct flow as you can see in the picture ..

I’m also having this stuff grow on my sand bed not sure what it is . When the light goes on it appears as red .. is it because I need new flow ?

maybe it’s time for some upgrades I was thinking a EcoTech Mp10 powerhead and A Kessil A360x Light .. what do u guys think or suggest me to do ?

Also if you can click on the image and get a better look can you tell wether placement is okay ? and if corals look happy ?

The first thing I would do before changing anything in the tank is test your water parameters and post them. At a glance, I’m thinking you have low nutrients caused by your rock algae that popped up from reefroids and is now causing dinos to pop up by stripping the water column of nutrients. 25% weekly water changes could be compounding the problem, but it is a nano and that’s a different animal as far as that goes. This is just an educated guess for my amusement and I won’t know for sure until we see some actual numbers.

Hi how old is the tank? Looks like too much light either turn down intensity or run less hours. Is it still cycling. It’s getting cyano growth. That’s from water quality as well thx

So I get my water tested by my local fish store whenever I go to refill my salt or r/o water ... when I got my couple of sps they told me to buy acropower so I didn’t but I don’t wanna add anything else until my tank is good

Also on my last visit my LFS told me to add 15 ML of Alk to bring my levels back to 10..... so do I add 15ml weekly ? This part of the reef hobby is what fustrates me I have a hard time with knowing how to test or when to test .. I heard some people tell me don’t chase numbers just do water changes ... and as far as with flow ? Am I okay right now ? At first I thought the red was dead spots
