So I really love the biology of reef tanks. However, I need some extra help when it comes to flow, as it's not my greatest area of expertise. (I'm learning, though!) Anyway, I am planning on a 10 gallon tank mainly supporting zoas, muchrooms (pinstripe, rics, etc.), maybe palys, some other polyps. You know, basics. I have a Koralia 720 gph powerhead laying around I KNOW IT'S TOO MUCH FLOW! So this person wants to trade me for a koralia 425 gph powerhead. Would this powerhead give me enough flow for what I want to have? I will also run a filter with no media for surface agitation and eventually will add my skimmer. Please help? Will the trade give me enough flow?

I would think that should work. You will just have to see how corals react. You want to make sure it doesn't blast your corals.

It's enough flow, but I'd be a bit concerned about the flow being so 'fixed' in such a small tank. I'd rather see 2 smaller powerheads and alternate them. Or do something like 2 Jebao WP10 wavemaker heads that will really mix up the flow and make for a much healthier tank, IMHO.
