Little help here...... My calcium reactor got glogged yesterday (the dripper). Im not sure when it did it. Propably during the night. My brother went there last night to feed the fishes and saw it. He fixed the issue and just about now when he got there again to see if was still dripping... It was not. Im on vacation for a week. Im too far away to go back. My brother changed The valve to make it work again. So far so good.
The problem:
My alk was 9
He just checked and its reading 7
Do I loose sps with alk this low?

It's possible, just make sure the alk is slowly brought back to normal. It's rapid swings that do most of the damage, although, the low alk can be harmful over a period. Also with low alk, your ph is more suceptible ti swings since the waters buffering capabilities rely on the alk.

Its been a year without any problems. The week a take a vacation this happens.... really frustating.
All my sps are growing so good. Very sad.

Your ALK dropped 2.0 because your calcium reactor didn't work for 1 day? I wouldn't think that it would get so far out of wack in one day. Maybe your brother didn't do the test correctly.

I know it was right. He checked twice. Elos test kit. Checked again this morning it was 7 still.

Ok maybe im missing something, but i thought calcium reactors do not provide alk. Just calcium and maybe magnesium if you mix in a supplement.

They provide all 3. Anything that is utilized in coral skeleton making is released when it is dissolved, so you get carbonate (alk), calcium, mag, as well as some other trace elements.
