I have had my 2 fish in qt for a little over a month. I did 2 weeks ttm with prozi and 2 weeks abservation. Today i noticed some white coloration on my tang. I had planed to move them to dt today. So i thought i would do a fresh water dip just to make sure it wasnt a parisite.

He is still lightly breating but thats about it.he just layes there.

Help.

I think he is dead. He has stopped breathing. what the heck. Why did a fresh water dip kill my fish? He was eating good and active. He was shy and liked to hide a lot. Please tell me what he had. How can i treat for it with my other fish?

Still not breathing im going to leave him over night. But im not feeling good.

I'm so very sorry, Mgoesma . . .

If a fish has trouble coming around after a freshwater dip, it sometimes helps to hold them in the current of a powerhead or return. What I see on the tang looks as though there may be a bacterial issue going on, which freshwater will do little for. It does sound as though you performed the dip procedure correctly, though.

I did hold him in the currect several times to try to help him come out of it.

He looks to have an infection going on there. He may have been too weak for the freshwater dip at this point. Have there been any other symptoms to go along with this for the last few days? heavy breathing, scratching, flashing, head shaking, swimming into the flow?

No. He was always shy and a little jumpy.. But as long as you stayed back he was eating great not rubbing. Breathing normal. What should i do with the other fish?

If your other fish aren't displaying symptoms, keep them under observation. Try to spend at least 15 minutes, twice a day, just watching them for anything that might be "off". If they _do_ begin to display symptoms of illness, then treat accordingly. Bacteria often attacks just one fish out of a tankful. Meantime, keep the water in the tank as clean as you can.

I do a 50% to 75% water twice a week. I always observe my fish at least 2 times a day mornaly for much more that 15 min.

I am going to put him in the DT. He has been through the full QT process with no issues.
