Help please

An ammonia calculator? And is your ammonia .035 or .595?

Regardless, just get some bacteria and you’re all set.

My seneye is reading 0.035 but that is classed as free ammonia while total ammonia is different. I'll grab some bacteria tomorrow

I’d pick up one of those cheap api ammonia tube kits if you’re still concerned. They’ll let you know if you have detectable ammonia or not.

I have a red sea test kit so will test tomorrow. I'll complete what you and the others have

Hi guys

First of all I've got a 70 litre max nano. It has cycled for over 23 days and has dropped to 0 ammonia -0 Nitrite -25 nitrate about 3 days ago so I decided to do a full waterchange and add one fish and 7 clean up crew. 2 nass snails 2 trochus snails 2 rock hermit crabs and 1 cleaner shrimp. However since the day it hit 0 and I completed a water change the ammonia has been slowly rising again. Yet no food was added for the fish. This ammonia keeps rising and a screenshot of my seneye is attached. Please help me. I can not take the fish back due to being in new years day tomorrow so most places closed. So anything else will be great. Thank you

Some things to think about...

1) is the accuracy of the data you are getting from your Seneye...do you have another way of testing to confirm it...

You might consider getting a Seachem Ammonia alert and put it in the tank ---link here

2) Is the "Trim" in the Seneye control panel set to "0"...if not I would reset it unless you have calibrated it to a known level and then adjusted it yourself.

I have a Seneye and like any other measurement instrument it can be in error...That is why it is best to confirm with
another method

3) here is some information about ammonia toxic levels that might help you

4) Don't rush into "quick solutions until you are sure your measurements are correct...You could be making changes that are unnecessary and causing stress with the changes you are making...

Thank you. I'll check my seneye tomorrow and check the accuracy using my red sea test kit. Thank you all for your suggests. Will continue learning

Most welcome....let us know how it goes or if you need any more help

Hi guys, I brought some bacteria in a bottle today and added a good amount of bacteria. Ammonia did start to drop but has began to very slightly climb again. Will do some tests using my red sea test kit to double check and then complete a water change.

You really shouldn't have to do so many water changes. First verify what your ammonia is at using red sea and make the judgement call. Make sure to turn off your skimmer and remove filter socks before dosing the bacteria. Give it time to get situated.

I'd also be curious to see what's going on with your nitrites.

Nitrites are currently 0.05 and ammonia is 0.1 so it has come down a good amount. Will dose some more bacteria with skimmer off and filter sock out. Thanks for the help
