Help plumbing overflow/sump

If you can redo your plumbing/overflow, what would you do.

What type of overflow ? Durso, herbie or Stockman
Tubing? PVC, Spa flex or just plain vinyl tube
Return pump? external VS internal

Can I use one pump (like Mag 24) to work as return and feed skimmer at the same time.

Here my list of the equipment:

- 125 Gallon dual over flows (2 -2 inches and 2-1 inches hole)
- 30 Gallon sump
- Mag 24 for return
- Reef devil deluxe with catalina 2200

Any help would be appreciate.

overflow is really personally preference... I go with easiest.
As far as materials, I prefer PVC, it has a very clean look and i have a thing about hoses i could kick loose.
external pumps are nice, internal are easier
and yes, you can t off your return for whatever you want to do, but youmight consider t-ing off your drain to your skimmer, it is more efficient that way

Ive always used the megaflow overflow kits and like them, I believe they are considered dursos. As for plumbing, I just redid mine with spaflex and really like it. With PVC you will most likely use elbows which slow down water movement alot. For pumps, the mag pumps are a great pump but emit alot of heat into the tank and tend to release more than normal stray voltage. when T-ing off for a skimmer like a reefdevil you will probly not get the performance you need as it is only efficient with very high pressure and you probly wont have any if you T-off. I have some extra spa flex I will be selling at the frag swap if you are interested. and maybe a 40 gallon sump.

Hey Ironman we met once at Susan house. You were fixing Susan overflow.

My sump has one hole drilled for external pump. So I might use Mag 24 as external pump.

I try to get this thing up before the swap. I hope to start the plumbing this coming weekend.

How do you connect spa flex to bulk head? Is it same as PVC?

Anyone want to post your sump picture and idea behind it?

hey mack, Check on running that mag externally, I think it would run to hot to be external, but I could be wrong. spa flex can be glued just like pvc, or it will push over barb fittings as well. maybe you can swing by the house sometime and check it out.
