i woke up this morning to see we had a power outage , the power went back on but the breaker the fish tank was on must of tripped so now I have my dotyyback, blue tang and yellow tang on the bottom still breathing but looking like they are going to die. Any advice on what I should do. Thanks in advance

Get the water moving. Use everything you can. They're suffering from oxygen deprivation. They will often recover quickly if O2 is restored in time.

Get the pumps pointed at the surface of the water. Run an airstone if you have one. Check the temp too.

Exactly, just take out water in a container and keep dumping it back in to get the oxygen back. They should be fine

Do everything you can to agitate the surface of the water. I agree with everyone, low oxygen is the killer and the problem here.

Good luck, keep us posted!

If you got power back turn the breaker to the tank back on. Points your power heads to hit the surface

ive been doing everything you guys said, the color of the tangs seems to be coming back but they are still on the ground breathing heavy, hopefully they make, what away to wake up!!!!!!!

If they're still kicking it's a good sign. Keep as much oxygen going as possible!

If you have a nearby Walmart , they sell a battery operated air stone that is in the fishing section used for keeping live bait. I keep this handy for instances such as this one. Best of luck!

So it seems that my all my fish have recovered except for my flame angel who i found dead this morning and a blue damsel who died yesterday. I am really upset to lose the angel, it is such an awesome fish, but all in all it could have been way worse. Thanks for all the advice

For future always good to have a battery powered airstone or pump.

The problem was that the power went out at night and was back on by the time I woke up but the breaker popped where the fish tank was so I put the power back on as soon as I realized when I woke up so in this case the battery powered air stone wouldn't mattered but I am planning on getting one just in case

There is one that comes on when the power cuts out.

Really, I'll definitely have to search for that one

I'd check the cause of that breaker trip as well.
might as well invest in some alarm that goes on when power fails if power cuts are frequent in your area

I have this exact one on my tank. The cord is stupidly short on it so you might want to grab a lamp extension cord while you are at it.
