Help...protein skimmer

Just got and installed my eshopps psk-100 hob skimmer. I got it going but my question is...adjusting it?

How far up the collection tube should the bubbles be? Do you have to turn it off to empty the collection cup? What else do I need to know?

I'm not sure if there's an exact guideline to where the bubble line should be. I prefer to have the line lower for a thicker skim ate. When I cleaning the sand bed or rocks, I raise the bubble line for a wet skim ate.

You can always lower the line when removing the cup for emptying or turn off skimmer. Mine is the sump, so the water/bubbles spill out of the chamber when removing the cup. But obviously you can't do that with a hob or external skimmer
