I made a stupid mistake and decided to clean off some rocks with a dish sponge. I guess a chunk came off because afterward I noticed a chunk of sponge stuck in my toby puffers teeth and mouth. He kept eating so I thought he was fine. But now he is constantly hiding ( which he NEVER does) and not eating (he never misses a meal). I'm afraid he ingested some. Is there anything I can do to help the poor guy out? I feel awful.

Its possible and he should pass it through. Try brine shrimp which will help it in hopes he takes the shrimp. The concern however is sponge expands when wet and will stay puffed up and lead to intestinal blockage.

Thanks. I tried giving him some food and he showed no Interest. I'll try again in a bit.

Update: after two days oh him hiding and not eating we were able to catch him with the net and use some tweezers to pull out the sponge that was stuck in his teeth and mouth. He is back to swimming around and eating!
