Assure it’s getting moderate light and water flow and do add a little iodine to the tank
Next instead of freshwater, use peroxide

Whats on the bottom of the tank? Looks like freshwater gravel.

Yeah I bought basically the first good substrate I saw, and didn’t realize it mattered whether it’s fw or not, I mean idk does it matter, like besides fitting an ocean theme, does it really matter that much?

not for saltwater,releases too much organics,we don't want in our sw tanks

not 100% sure of what..iron in larger quanities than we need would be first guess,package says ,realeases organics,this is for freshwater

It does matter. Some are painted and offer NO buffering qualities for ph and overall chemistry

That specific freshwater substrate is probably not the worst - it's basically just crushed lava rock and fairly inert from a planted tank perspective. I don't know enough about reefs yet to comment on anything else.

it's always you who have to decide, but this substrate is for planted aquarium. You can contact 'carib sea' and ask them if these huge concentration of elements will be OK for corals.

from the label it looks like it way more than what we want our reef tank to have. it has 20 times more magnesium and 60 time more calcium than a typical reef tank. Not to mention the other elements like iron.
