I'm looking to upgrade my cheap Chinese LEDs and treat myself to something more fancy while I have the cash. (Because if I don't do it now I know some random corals in my LFS will be calling my name haha) My tank is currently a 40 breeder and is a Zoa dominated tank. With a few SPS and LPS here and there also including a RBTA. While I know this lighting system is big I was wondering if this is just to much for my system?

Was wanting to go with this big a of a system because I do plan on upgrading my tank in the future to maybe a 75g or 90g. There for I could just use this light when I do upgrade my tank.

Currently running 2 Aquamana LEDs with full spec. and that are dimmable. Tank specs. are 36 inches long X 18 inches deep X 17 inches high.

Was wondering if someone could point me on the right direction or throw in some advice.

If I go this system what would you think a good height to hang it at and what would be a good intensity to keep it at?
Also What would be a good way to do the light acclimation?

Also do you think this system would work?
Why or Why not?

Do You recommend a better system?
If so, which system and why?

I love the light... I run one on my 75 and its great... I had it before on my 36" 57 gallon which is same as a 40b just taller..

I think it would work great on a 40b..

Hang it 10-12 inches should be fine..
I run mine up to 70% blue 30% white..
You can acclimate by simply starting with a lower intensity... maybe in the 30% range..

I love the color and control it offers...

32 photon would be fine on the 40g all the way to a 75g....not enough for a 90g IMO. I have mine hung above my 75g at a height of 10 inches but you can go higher. Start the settings out low or you are going to scorch your corals...my peak right now is 50 % channel 1 and 30 % channel 2 for around 5 hours. Id start at 30% channel 1 and 10% channel 2 max, then up it a couple percent every week. As for acclimation Ive heard that people put egg crate or screen over the tank for the first month or so but I have never done that personally. Hope that helps but I warn you dont up the intensity on this light quickly or say goodbye to the corals...I killed a few corals like this

Mine is over our 75 gallon. A 90 gallon is just a lil deeper. It will work fine. I love ours !!!! I have way more than enuf light getting to the bottom of our tank. Im running mine lower than i could be running. Blues get to around 40% and whites to about 20% ( short time) Works for me ! LPS and SPS is growing great. I'm going to have to frag some soon lol.

Mines hanging about 12" off the water surface. On a Bent conduit thing i made for it. 90 deg optics. I have about 15 par on my glass. Cant beat that ! (less cleaning)

That was one of my other question would it be better to get 90 degree or 120degree?
Why did you eight the degree you choosen?

thanks for the quick replies, just out of curiosity this light does have a built in timer right?

yes, it has a really cool programmable controller that slowly dims and brightens the LEDs for a more natural day/night cycle, you'll love it :)

That was one of my other question would it be better to get 90 degree or 120degree?
Why did you eight the degree you choosen?

90 degree optics focus more light in a tighter beam, that = more PAR, 120 degree optics allow the light to spread out more,= less PAR...

I would go with the 90 degree, if you don't like it, you can remove the optics and just the bare LEDs are really close to 120 degree without optics....optics are sometimes necessary for really tall tanks or they allow you to mount the fixture higher, you'd be fine without optics over your 40b but might need the 90s over a 75g
